Old Sarah sites (via Wayback Machine)

Post by Crazylitstudent » Wed Mar 24, 2010 11:26 am

Having dug out the 1997 version of the official website for the Murmurs Fan Club topic I thought it might be fun to have a topic that looks back on the Sarah sites of the late 1990s as a sort of easy to use archive for people who have an interest in seeing what Sarah fandom was like over 10 years ago or just want an nostalgia trip! ;)

Be warned:

There are pages/images missing on some of the sites but I have tried to choose the sites with the most interesting information even if they aren't always complete.

Official site (1997 - 1998): http://web.archive.org/web/199802070318 ... chlan.com/
Fumbling.com (1997): http://web.archive.org/web/199705051835 ... /home.html
A Sarah Webzine (1999): http://web.archive.org/web/200008241740 ... om/heaven/
Site with FAQ and some rare photos (199?): http://web.archive.org/web/199710101914 ... uid/sarah/
Another Sarah site (199?): http://web.archive.org/web/199812012251 ... onh/sarah/
Sarah pix found on the Net (199?): http://web.archive.org/web/199707071535 ... sarah.html
A Place of Solace (199?): http://web.archive.org/web/199904210421 ... rames.html

If awayone else wants to mess around with the wayback machine and find some other old sites then that would be awesome! :D

Thanks WolfmanJack. the only problem with a project like collecting old links like this is the admout of "Not in Archive" messages I keep getting!!! :x But I did find at least one new link today:

There were a lot of website about Sarah in the 90's but plenty are dead now. There's also a reason for that: Geocities, an important free webhosting service that people were using for their website, closed in 2009.

I loved when Murmurs looked like this:
http://web.archive.org/web/200304011023 ... m/murmurs/

I thought the colours were gorgeous. I remember being so disappointed when they changed it to the dark navy colours.

Shame we can't log in on that Meg! ;)

Found the Fumbler FAQ from 2000. Really intresting section on the meanings of Sarah's songs:

That was way TOO bright, haha, definitely preferred that darker blue :)

I don't know if anyone remembers this, but back around the time Surfacing was released, there was a fan compiled Sarah 500, aka. "you know you're a Sarah when ...", floating around the net. It was a pretty fun read, and I had a printed off copy way back when, but I don't have it any longer.

Anyway, has anyone stumbled across a website that has it, or has a copy of it themselves?

There is a link to it on the fumbled Faq but when I click on it I get that annoying not in archive message. :(
