Lyrics

Well my time has come quickly I go lickety splitly
Down to my ol’ 55
Well I pulled away slowly
I was feeling so holy
God knows I was feeling alive

Now the sun’s coming up
I’m riding with lady luck
Freeways, cars, and trucks
Stars beginning to fade
And I lead the parade
Just a wishing I stayed a little longer
Oh Lord, lemme tell you the feeling’s getting stronger

And it’s six in the morning, gave me no warning
I had to be on my way
Well there’s trucks all a-passing and the lights are all flashing,
I’m on my way home from your place

Now the sun’s coming up
I’m riding with lady luck
Freeways, cars, and trucks
Stars beginning to fade
And I lead the parade
Just a wishing I stayed a little longer
Oh Lord, lemme tell you the feeling’s getting stronger

Well my time has come quickly I go lickety splitly
Down to my ol’ 55
Well I pulled away slowly
I was feeling so holy
God knows I was feeling alive
Now the sun’s coming up
I’m riding with lady luck
Freeways, cars, and trucks
Stars beginning to fade
And I lead the parade
Just a wishing I stayed a little longer
Oh Lord, lemme tell you the feeling’s getting stronger

Trivia/Notes

Sarah says

“This was recorded well into the wee hours of morning after an evening of an immeasurable quantity of red wine. We were feeling festive and decided to record Ol’ 55 just for fun. We had never played the song together and most of the band had only a vague recollection of the song’s existence. The few of us who knew the song were mouthing chord changes to each other.”
