And the cover:
Edit: and the lyrics!
In Your Shoes
You turn the radio on play your favorite song and cry… cry
You let it all disappear push back the doubt and fear they try… try
To hold your head under the waves but you’re breathing all the same
You are stronger than their hate
Time for you to walk out walk in your own shoes
Lay down your footprints wherever you choose
Leave it all behind and move on you are your own woman
You never asked for trouble but you’ve got fire that burns so bright… bright
You turn and face the struggle when all the others turn and hide… hide
You hold your head above the waves above the war they try to wage
You are stronger than their hate
Time for you to walk out walk in your own shoes
Lay down your footprints wherever you choose
Leave it all behind and move on ’cause you are your own woman
Time for you to walk out walk in your own shoes
Lay down your footprints wherever you choose
Leave it all behind and move on you are your own woman move on yeah
Time for you to walk out walk in your own shoes
Lay down your footprints wherever you choose
Say what’s on your mind with pride ‘cause you are your own woman
You’ve got a light that always guides you You speak of hope and change as something good
Live your truth and know you’re not alone
You turn the radio on play your favorite song and sing out so loud

I loved the lyrics! It has much to do with my life moment..
She tells more about the song at this interview (sorry if it's already posted at another topic of the Forum):
http://www.eonline.com/news/526983/sara ... nspiration
"I come from a female perspective, and obviously Malala—she's talking about females not being educated. ...So, certainly it is very much a female empowerment song. And I have two daughters so I'm looking for some strong role models for them because there certainly are a lot of girls out there who may be doing their own thing but they're not doing good things. I don't judge anybody but at the same time I'm very pleased when I can talk about somebody in the world who is doing something really important and helpful and quite selfless."

It's a comment on Sarah's website. I guess it's really a decision of the record company...

C’mon team Sarah. I’m going to let you into a secret. There’s a place outside of the US, and it’s called “The rest of the world”. The rest of the world has fans of Sarah’s music. Give all of us a chance to hear the single. I know I’m being a little sarcastic, but I do play nicely with the other kids, when they play nice. So come on team Sarah, let’s all have a listen.

Thanks Paul, we agree & wish we could control that a bit better but these parameters are set by 3rd parties unfortunately. Can you hear the sampling here:

It's a nice uplifting song. A good message. That's an incredible picture of Sarah, too!

I like the song too, it's a positive one, full of energy
Maybe I'm the only one who see it that way, but to me this song is a sort of response to the last lines of "Awakenings". These are both the first songs on Laws of Illusion and Shine On, and I my mind they are connected.
In Awakenings, she said that she didn't really know what she was anymore, she was uncertain about herself:
I’m not the girl I was but what have I become?
I’m not so willing anymore to bend
Still pleasing and conceding but I’m not gonna lose myself again
In "In Your Shoes", she sounds strong and in power:
Time for you to walk out walk in your own shoes
Lay down your footprints wherever you choose
Leave it all behind and move on
You are your own woman
I know what inspired Sarah for this song, the story of Malala Yousafzai and the plague of bullying, but even if it's not something about relationship or break up, I see it as a big move toward self-confidence (if that makes sense).
By the way, I talked with my sister yesterday and she said that she had been able to hear it too, so the first release was not only for the US, it was for Canada too.

I agree, Karine. I had thought it had a resemblance to Awakenings in the sound, but I hadn't looked at the lyrics. That's a good analogy you made. It's like the beginning of a journey, after coming to grips with herself. Do you think the album songs will be a progression along a journey, beginning with this song?
