Thanks to Ellen for making this excellent recording available. Without even mentioning the fantastic music, this concert has some great comments by Sarah about some of the songs. "trying to get all the depressing songs out of the way first", is quite funny and really cracks up the audience. She said it wasn't working though, because they were "evenly distributed throughout the set".
It's fascinating to hear how she explains "Ice", for instance, as an observation on a place where she never really was, and wasn't sure if she had the right to judge someone in that position (drug addiction), but she felt compelled to try and put herself there anyway. This one is so deeply felt and haunting, that I was glad to hear her talk about it at last.
And the story she tells about "Plenty" is really hilarious, too. "A jilted love song, with a positive message at the end".
All the songs are done in her trademark intensely emotional fashion, and then some. It's like a prequel to Mirrorball.
Sure would like to have seen her then, or anytime, for that matter.

I need to listen to it again, because I don't remember those comments.
