I just discovered this:

Let's Get Lost (with Beck)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ghovdQlIYs

It's cool but not as compelling as some of Natasha's songs on Two Suns, but then again I was never a big fan of Beck at all (I can't stand that hit song of his lol) and I'm not sure if he's the one who wrote this. But it's great to know she's making new music even though her latest tune is in the soundtrack of Twilight... :? :?:

Yes it is, and I completely agree about that song. It's pretty lacklustre. Florence's "Heavy In Your Arms" off the same soundtrack, is much stronger.

Natasha is (I'm sure) working on new stuff, perhaps for an album later this year. We'll see I guess, but I can't wait :) I still rate her my #1 new girl, and Florence my #2. Florence has some songs I absolutely adore, but also a bunch that I find extremely annoying, especially "You've got the love" (bleurgh!)

And since there's no other news, here's a hot picture.

^She's my #1 new girl too followed closely by Joanna Newsom (I don't have a 3rd at the mo...).
I'm also very excited about the new album! I just hope Beck won't get too involved for her own good. Sweet baby Jesus... lol

Nice pic btw! :)

I really need to investigate Joanna Newson, and I think I'll start with her latest album which has been receiving amazing reviews (feel free to open a Joanna Newsom thread, Jessel :) )

The thing I love most about Natasha is the sense (and you probably know what I mean here) that she is a real artist. From the visual aspects, to the performance, to the lyrics...her songs are like abstract dreams or visions at times, and they feel like unique, personal ideas that are left uncompromised. They're not just pop songs built around some predetermined structure. The closest she has come to that was "Daniel", which she has said was her attempt to write a really classic sounding pop song of the 80s. And still she filled it with abstract themes based around the Karate Kid movie of the 80s.

But listen to tracks like "Wilderness", and I just get a shiver as soon as she starts...

"I took my leaves to the sea..."

It's deep, personal, dreamy folk music. (And I sense a similarity in what I've heard of Joanna Newsom's stuff so far too)

Rob.

I completely agree. She's surreal. Moon and Moon gives me the shivers every time I listen to it.

You can find the Joanna Newsom thread here Rob. ;)
