Rachael Sage is an amazing singer-songwriter from New York who has been around for a while now but I don't feel gets the attention she should. Shes relased nine albums since 1995, the latest being Delancey Street which came out this year. Shes also a Lilith Girl having performed on the Village Stage in 1997, she even thanks Sarah in the liner notes for one of her CDs! More recently her song Too Many Women was featured on the soundtrack for the remake of Fame.

I discovered her when listening to a late night radio show and hearing her beautiful song Sacifice, I had to order her CDS from the States though because while her CDs do get relased here, they are extremely hard to find. In 2008 I saw her in concert at an extremely small venue, I think there were less than 20 people there. She noticed that I knew ALL the words to all her songs and got chating to me as I was sat at the front. I even got a song deadicated to me, how awesome is that? After the show I had a bit more of a chat with her and got a CD signed. It was one of the most awesome musical experinces I've ever had!

Shes touring the UK at the moment but I'm extremely busy with preparing to return to University for my final year and can't travel to any of her concerts!! :-(

Okay some songs:

I discovered this lady sometime in early 2009 I think (around the same time I discovered her fellow New Yorker Vienna Teng) but I didn't have the chance to listen to her more because I'm pretty much preoccupied with other artists. But I heard some of her stuff and I think she's good.

Blown by the wind it clings to the tree, unwilling to wither and die...

Picked one of the videos randomly and ended up opening Big Star, only to find that there's a Portuguese "guy" on it, Mr. (or Mrs. as he likes to call himself) José Castelo Branco

Anyway, about the music, I only heard Big Star so far, which I think is kind of cheerful. I'll definitely check more of her stuff Ben ;)
