From: http://www.metronews.ca/vancouver/comme ... that-bootyCulo — slang for backside in Spanish – is a 248-page bottoms-up collection of photos and art pieces featuring models and musicians, including Vancouver’s Sarah McLachlan, who Mazzucco first met when he photographed her for the Nettwerk record label early in his career.
“One of the very first photographs I did was Sarah McLachlan,” Mazzucco says on the phone from his home in Montauk. “I had a studio on Beatty Street. From there, I moved to Milan, where I stayed for five years. Then I moved to Holland, then Montreal for a while and now I’ve been in New York for almost 13 years.”
Interestingly, it was an assignment shooting McLachlan that brought him back to Vancouver when the two-year Culo project was getting off the ground.
“She really wanted to be a part of it,” he says. “And timing just allowed us to shoot her for the Culo book, which Jimmy and Diddy were really excited about.”
