Re: Sarah in other media
I vaguely recall hearing about this "new-feminist, and Women-in-Rock" thing in the nineties, but since I wasn't listening to their music then (except for Suzanne Vega, who I drifted away from and came back to 15 years later, before I "discovered" Sarah) I don't how it really was playing in the larger population (although there was a lot of talk about the Clinton "empathy" at the time). So does the description of "McLachlan the peppy student-body president who wears weird-colored eye shadow" seem reasonable, to those of you who followed her then? I certainly have seen the eyeshadow part, but student body president? After all, she was "failing" high school, and was an outcast herself. Maybe she was "catching up".Karine wrote:You can read a section of the book on CBC.ca:CarolCiola wrote:Have you heard about this? Thanks for sharing it Carol
The description of Suzanne Vega does seem about right though. Her music has very understated and subliminal emotional content, and as she was known as an awesome poker-player, she delivered her music in a similar unemotional-seeming, but heavy-with-meaning style that was absolutely riveting. It would be interesting to hear about this from other fans of both women. To me, they seem sort of like a yin and yang pair.
Have you read this book, Karine?

That's a lot of money! She should rent it out to anyone who needs a place to stay while vacationing. But then who knows how long that'll work for.
