I trust that you’re all fit and well?
I need some advice from someone who knows the eastern seaboard area. For my sins, I’ve been tasked to visit a potential customer somewhere north of Boston, MA on the 4th. August. It so happens That SMcL is in Westhampton on the 5th, I see that that’s on Long island. I was planning on going down from Logan International down to Westhampton to see her. According to Google that’s a 4 hour drive. However, I’m reliably informed that on a Friday, it’s going to be nearer 6 hours. If that’s correct then I’m not likely to get there to see her in time. So, what time scale should I be looking at, 4 hours, or, 6 hours??
Finally, the tickets are upwards of $300. Is that normal for a SMcL concert? It seems very expensive!
With the additional cost involved; hotel, car hire, ferry, fuel, change of flights etc it’s going to be upwards of $900 plus. I’m sure it’ll be worth every penny but still expensive.
Please let me know.

Quincy
Hi Quincy, If you're flying into NY from Boston, You could take a Southwest flight from Logan to Islip, Long Island (there is a connection ... didn't see anywhere else that had none). From there it's a 30 min. car/taxi ride into the venue

If you're driving, you're probably going to look at 6-8 hours...especially on a Friday + afternoon traffic

About the tickets, no those prices are not normal
Hi Miguel,
Thanks for your response, but I’ve decide to abort the aforementioned plans to go to Westhampton for a number of reasons. Main reason is the timing, I can’t get to Logan until 13:30 at the earliest, and both Southwest and American Airlines will be leaving around that time. If I could guarantee to catch either of those flights, then great, I’d be off like a shot. Secondly, It’s going to cost me approx. $1300. That wouldn’t be a major issue IF I could guarantee that I’d get there. I’m not going to spend that kind of money on a less than 50-50 chance of making it. So, it looks like I’m going to miss out again!!
Many thanks for checking for me Miguel.
Regards

Here's another video of a live version of The Long Goodbye: she talks a bit more about the song at the beginning. It's sad :(

Quincy: maybe you did the right thing, because Sarah cancelled today's show. If you watch recent videos of her, you can hear that she's losing her voice. Maybe you would have done all this and maybe there will be no show on Aug 4th.

Why Me? /It pays to say you're a Sarah fan.
Last week I was in the Boston area on business. Due to a cancelled appointment on the Friday, my schedules changed which meant I had the timescales in place to get to Westhampton to see the SMcL concert. Off to Logan and booked a ticket to Islip/McArthur. The Southwest flights were full so I went with American. I bought the tickets literally, as the desk was closing for that flight. The only issue I had was I couldn’t book my venue ticket because it wouldn’t accept my card, but on phoning through I was told that there were still tickets left and they would hold one for me. Down to Philadelphia I went, had a meal (not nice), booked a hotel room for the night and finally booked a car. Went to the gate for the McArthur connection, waited until the flight was called only to be told at the ramp that I wasn’t on the passenger manifest, I had been bumped!
I went back to AA and told them, in no uncertain terms, that I was not a happy bunny. I was told to return tomorrow and that “We’ll get you there then”. I patiently told her that that wouldn’t work because I was off to the SMcL concert later that night; I even had the map from the airport to the venue wich I printed earlier that morning to, hopefully, back up the argument.
I was just about ready to get myself arrested by calling them every imaginative expletive I could muster, when a man rolled up, whom I found out was one of the managers, and took me to one of the vacant desks. “So, you’re a Fumbler then” he asked! That stopped me dead! At this point I was told, “There are no more flight today”
Bottom line is that he and his wife were both fans of Sarah. It didn’t help when he rubbed salt into the wound by telling me “You’ll miss a good concert” Thanks for that!!
Good news was that He changed my return ticket from JFK, on the Saturday evening, to my home city of Leeds, refunded the cost of the unused PHL to ISL ticket, and I was on the 8:40 flight that night back home. I was upgraded to Business class and sent through to the lounge area. I cancelled the car hire and hotel without penalty. All in all, I didn’t lose out financially, but I did lose the opportunity, again, to see her.
I just wonder what would have happened if this man hadn’t have been there to hear my protestations at the AA desk?

Oh, I'm sorry to hear you missed the concert :(

You were "lucky", if we can call that luck. This man probably made you saved a lot of money.
I hope you'll have another chance to see her :?

Hi Karine,

I noticed on SMcL facebook page that she thanked Karin for coming to the show that night, and she hoped that she'd enjoyed it. Was that you??

No, it wasn't me, unfortunately. I was I had enough money to see more shows (= to travel to see these shows)!

I was at her concert in Ottawa, in June. My sister and I had pretty good seats:
