JUNO Sole: Celebrating 40 Years of the JUNO Awards

Open until November 2011

The Bata Shoe Museum, in partnership with The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS), is celebrating 40 years of the JUNO Awards with the exhibition of JUNO Sole: Celebrating 40 Years of the JUNO Awards.

Representing the past four incredible decades of Canadian music, the exhibit features over 40 pairs of memorable shoes worn by past and present JUNO Award nominees, winners and Canadian musical icons. Vivid photographs and electrifying film footage capturing the excitement of the JUNO Awards welcomes visitors as they get ‘up-close and personal’ with some of their favourite musical artists in the Museum’s newly transformed and intimate Star Turns gallery.

There is a profound connection between music and fashion; one influences the other – both serve as expressions of individuality. For an artist, their image is a direct reflection of their musical style; and that unique style often starts with a great pair of shoes. Whether worn during a live performance, in a music video, on their wedding day or at the JUNO Awards broadcast, learning more about a particular artist’s choice of footwear also offers an intimate ‘peek’ into their celebrity lifestyle.

Please join us between November 10th, 2010 and November 30th, 2011 to see this exciting lineup. Other Canadian artists featured in this exhibit include Alan Frew, Anne Murray, Avril Lavigne, Ben Heppner, Bif Naked, Bryan Adams, Carole Pope, Chantal Kreviazuk, Dan Hill, Diana Krall, Drake, Emily Haines, Fred Penner, Geddy Lee, Glenn Gould, Hawksley Workman, Jann Arden, Jim Cuddy, Johnny Reid, Jully Black, Kim Mitchell, K-OS, K’Naan, Kreesha Turner, LIGHTS, Measha Brueggergosman, Michael Bublé, Murray McLauchlan, Nelly Furtado, Nikki Yanofsky, Oscar Peterson, Paul Anka, Sam Roberts, Sarah Harmer, Sarah McLachlan, Sarah Slean, Serena Ryder, Shania Twain, Suzie McNeil, Sylvia Tyson, Tom Cochrane, as well as bands Barenaked Ladies, Billy Talent, Nickelback, Our Lady Peace and Stereos.
