Fumbling Towards Ecstasy’s Sarah McLachlan playlist
As choreographer Jean Grand-Maitre told us, moving into the pop music realm has allowed the Alberta Ballet to explore “new directions.”
For Fumbling Towards Ecstasy, its ballet based on the music of singer/songwriter Sarah McLachlan, the company has worked with costume, lighting, scenery, projection and sound designers to make the program pop even more — and even more pop.
For those mainly interested in the dance, the show features solo and group pieces, and dancers include Kori Empson, Skye Balfour-Ducharme, Nicole Caron, Jaciel Gomez and others from the Alberta Ballet corps.
But for those who are moved more by McLachlan’s music, here are the you can expect to hear (not necessarily in this order):
Hold On, Ben’s Song, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy, Drawn to the Rhythm, Vox, Ice, Angel, Mary, Into the Fire, Illusions of Bliss, Good Enough, Building a Mystery, Ice Cream, Bring On the Wonder.
