Sarah McLachlan to headline 2013 Event
The twenty-second annual Vogel Alcove Arts Performance Event on Monday, April 22, 2013, will star Sarah McLachlan. The Meyerson Symphony Center will be the perfect setting for her crystal clear voice. Ms. McLachlan has sold more than 40 million recordings worldwide, with five of her albums reaching the Billboard Top 15. Since signing with Arista Records, every one of McLachlan’s studio and live albums over the last 20 years has been certified gold, platinum, or multi-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Ms. McLachlan’s hits include Angel; Fallen; Sweet Surrender; Building a Mystery; and I Will Remember You. A Canadian musician, singer and songwriter, she is an eight-time Juno Award winner (Canada) and a three-time Grammy Award winner.
McLachlan has both a stellar voice and a generous heart. McLachlan founded Lilith Fair, the historical touring festival which showcased female musicians and brought together two million people from 1997-1999, raising more than $7 million for charities. For her advancement of women’s careers in music, McLachlan received the Elizabeth Cady Stanton Visionary Award in 1998. In 2003, the singer founded the Sarah McLachlan Music Outreach Program to provide free music education classes in inner city schools where music programs have been reduced or abolished by budget cuts.
