McLachlan, Loverboy To Be Honoured At Junos
Vancouver — Sarah McLachlan and Loverboy will be honoured at the 2009 Juno Awards in Vancouver in March.
McLachlan will receive the 2009 Allan Waters Humanitarian Award – which recognizes “an outstanding Canadian artist whose humanitarian contributions have positively enhanced the social fabric of Canada.” The singer launched the Sarah McLachlan Foundation in 1999 to bring music to children in underserved communities. The foundation currently works with Vancouver’s Arts Umbrella organization, offering music lessons and mentoring to children in the inner city. Alberta rock band Loverboy, now based in Vancouver, will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. The 2009 Junos – to be broadcast live on March 29 on CTV – will be hosted for the second year running by stand-up comic Russell Peters.
