Sarah McLachlan, Lucinda Williams, k.d. lang on Bridge School lineup
The lineup for the 26th annual Bridge School benefit concert has been announced, and it’s a good one.
Of particular interest: Sarah McLachlan and Lucinda Williams — who are at either end of some kind of continuum scale — and k.d. lang, with her amazing voice.
Also, Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Ranges will bring their fine banjo-pickin’ music to Shoreline Amphitheatre.
The shows take place on Saturday, Oct. 20, and Sunday, Oct. 21.
Neil Young’s annual acoustic show raises money for the Bridge School, a program for the communicative and educational development of children with severe speech and physical impairments. Young and his wife Pegi helped found the school.
For this year’s event, Young is bringing one of his famous bands, Crazy Horse, out of the stable, which should be fun.
Other slated performers include Jack White, Guns n Roses, The Flaming Lips, Foster the People, Gary Clark Jr. and “special guests.” the latter is likely to include people who just couldn’t commit in time for the announcement, and probably an obscure band from Canada, Young’s native land.
Tickets for the Bridge School Benefit concerts are to go on sale at 10 a.m. on Sept. 14 Livenation.com, the Shoreline Amphitheatre box office, by calling 1-800-745-3000, or at any Ticketmaster outlet.
