Sonia Rodriguez, Sarah McLachlan among those honoured with Walk of Fame star

The evening that figure skater Kurt Browning was inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame in 2001, he and his ballerina wife, Sonia Rodriguez were in a car accident.

“She was holding the star and her purse. She got pushed into the seat ahead of her because we had no seat belts on in the back of a limo,” Browning said. The award nearly “impaled” her, he added.

“It’s been destined. The star has been chasing her.”

Rodriguez joined her husband on the Walk of Fame Saturday. A principal dancer with The National Ballet of Canada for 22 years, she was honoured alongside inductees singer/songwriter Sarah McLachlan, former CFL quarterback Russ Jackson and the late comedian Phil Hartman.
