Remembrance Day

On Thursday, Nov. 11, CTV delivers extensive coverage of Remembrance Day ceremonies from Ottawa on multiple channels across the country. Leading the way is CTV News Channel’s live two-hour Remembrance Day special beginning at 10 a.m. ET, hosted by Chief News Anchor and Senior Editor, Lloyd Robertson, this special also broadcasts live 10 – 11:10 a.m. on CTV stations in Ontario and Quebec and streams live on CTV.ca. CTV stations in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and the Atlantic provinces air The Wave of Silence followed by four short stories from Canadian Veterans, while CTV British Columbia airs a live one-hour special of local Remembrance Day ceremonies beginning at 10:30 a.m. PT.

As a part of CTV’s commitment to Canadian veterans, and all whom have served Canada during war, armed conflict and peace, CTV has created a series of four interviews in association with The Historica-Dominion Institute and its Memory Project. The short vignettes, tell stories of World War II Veterans Ed Carter-Edwards, Bernard Finestone, Corinne Kernan-Sévigny, Cyril Roach and have been airing in high rotation on CTV and its family of channels.

In addition to airing as individual stories, the short vignettes will air as extended interviews on CANADA AM, and together along with an interview with Pat Stogran as a half-hour special VOICES OF COURAGE, narrated by Lloyd Robertson on CTV News Channel Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 8 p.m. ET and as a part of the Remembrance Day special on Thursday, Nov. 11 at 10 a.m. ET.

“Every time I hear, read or see a story from our Veterans I am struck by the courage ordinary people display in extraordinary circumstances,” said Robertson. “I am honoured to be a part of CTV’s coverage of Remembrance Day and I am humbled by the exceptional heroes we honour on this day.”

CANADA AM (6 – 9 a.m. ET on CTV)
Wednesday, Nov. 10 – CANADA AM speaks to Pat Stogran, Canada’s Veterans Ombudsman, about Canada’s role in the war in Afghanistan and how he thinks the operation will be remembered.

Thursday, Nov. 11 – In a CANADA AM exclusive, Sarah McLachlan sits down for an intimate chat with Beverly Thomson, and performs special songs in honour of Remembrance Day and for soldiers stationed in Kandahar. CANADA AM also introduces the audience to VOICES OF COURAGE’s Bernard Finestone, who was just a child when he served in Italy which led to years of suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome.
