Save The Children

Atlantic Records has announced the November 18th release of an all-star benefit album, “It’s Still Okay To Dream,” in support of Save the Children, a development and relief organization working in the United States and around the world to make lasting, positive change in the lives of children in need. The album features classic songs by 15 of the top names in contemporary music, including Babyface, Eva Cassidy, Eric Clapton, Celine Dion & Andrea Bocelli, Don Henley, Jewel, Carole King, Barry Manilow, Sarah McLachlan, Carly Simon, Paul Simon, Sting, Barbra Streisand, and James Taylor. Participation to the Pencil Benefit (of Arista Records) Public Education Needs Civic Involvement in Learning. PENCIL was founded in 1995 to coordinate and galvanize meaningful corporate and community involvement in the New York City public schools.

NARAS

Sarah McLachlan was scheduled to perform at the City Of Hope Spirit Of Life event on Thursday (October 9) in Los Angeles, California. The charity gala, which honored the work of NARAS (National Academy Of Recording Arts & Sciences) president Neil Portnow, will benefit the City Of Hope’s cancer research and treatment programs. Also scheduled to perform at the ceremony are Brian McKnight, Ronald Isley of the Isley Brothers and songwriter Burt Bacharach.

Build Your Own Business

Nettwerk America and women’s cable network Oxygen Media have teamed for a charity compilation album featuring female musicians, with proceeds going to Oxygen’s “Build Your Own Business” public-service program. “Oh! From the Girls” will feature 15 songs by the likes of Dido, Avril Lavigne, Sarah McLachlan (Angel), Tori Amos, Aimee Mann, the Pretenders and Macy Gray. Most artists contributed previously released tracks, but a couple donated live recordings — Gray’s “Come Together” (Live) and an in-concert version of Amos’ “Cornflake Girl.”
