Sarah’s Charity Work 2001

Musicians in the War Zone

Musicians in the War Zone is an interactive project, funded by the Bell Broadcast and New Media Fund, that examines the impact of war on children and provides opportunities for youth to get involved. Conceived and produced by War Child Canada and MuchMusic, the project included the participation of Canadian music artists Chantal Kreviazuk, Raine Maida of Our Lady Peace, David Usher and the Rascalz who explored human rights issues in war zones in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. They recorded their experiences in war-torn communities for the documentary and in on-line Field Diaries. The one-hour documentary, Musicians in the War Zone, first aired on MuchMusic on April 19, 2001 to a record-breaking audience. Sarah participated in Musicians in the War Zone, an interactive documentary project that combines an analysis of the impact of war on children with a call for Canadian youth to take action. Sarah generously donated her time to narrate Musicians in the War Zone.

It was narrated by Sarah MacLachlan and commentary and interviews by Canadian musicians such as: The Rascalz, David Usher, Chantal Kreviazuk, Raine Maida. Canadian musicians visit other countries to heighten understanding of people in war-torn countries.
