From Renowned For Sound:
Sarah McLachlan’s new album simply reaffirms her ability to write songs that are relatable yet go beneath the surface. Her vocal performances remain captivating as ever, meaning that she should have no problem in promoting this album on the road.
And, one from cbc.ca:
Shine On sees a few differences, but plenty of what we’re used to as well. Working once again mostly with producer Pierre Marchand, the trademark McLachlan soaring voice and sensitive lyrics are here, and lots of rich, piano-based melodies. I’d say the noticeable difference is a couple more up, pop songs, and a more straight-forward sound, a little less treatment and more chances for the instruments to stand out.

“Little B” and “What’s It Gonna Take”, both on the deluxe edition of Shine On, can now be streamed (snippet!) on iTunes. It’s also on Amazon, so you can also just check right here! “Little B” sounds great!

A long, nice article about Shine On (from Music Radar):
For her eighth studio album, the luminous and compelling Shine On, Sarah McLachlan wanted to shake things up a bit. Since 1991, she’s worked with producer and multi-instrumentalist Pierre Marchand (who helmed the bulk of the new set) on an unbroken string of platinum and multi-platinum releases. “I wanted to try a few different things,” McLachlan says, “and it was actually Pierre who suggested I that I look to some new people.”
